The Challenge

selectability and selectability Training were previously delivering training to their workforce and students respectively using the traditional face-to-face model. This model was not scalable, particularly given selectability’s extended footprint across the region and selectability Training’s Queensland-wide State subsidy offer which remained unutilised outside of Townsville.

selectability sought a fully customised technology solution that would be scalable, ensure maximum flexibility, provide 24/7 accessibility, and guarantee consistency in training quality across the organisation. This was our opportunity to develop an LMS platform for selectability. We focused on the following key features:

The Solution

The project commenced with selectability and Enablen validating and refining all the functional requirements and developing an end-to-end product roadmap. Once the plan was mutually approved by all stakeholders, Enablen’s team of engineers and UI/UX designers started to work on the functional and visual experience. A core Moodle framework was deployed.

We further engineered the solution to enable video conferencing integration and live content delivery to a large number of geographically dispersed users. The platform enabled learners to easily access on-demand video lectures, as well as upload audio and video for performance demonstrations from any device, making the learning process easy and seamless.

The Impact

The LMS was launched in the third quarter of the calendar year 2018, and within the first year of deployment, reduced more than 80% of training inefficiencies and physical resource wastage as well as barriers to learning caused by incompatible face-to-face training schedules. selectability and selectability Training were able to scale their training offers to the workforce and students respectively at not only a state-wide level but effectively at a national level. The physical and financial barriers to learning were removed, paving the way for training and workforce development to become a purposeful mandate for the organisation(s).

On 18 September 2020, selectability went on to win the Medium Employer of the Year Award at the Queensland Training Awards 2020. selectability’s achievements in technology and workforce development were further recognised in the same year at the Australian Training Awards 2020, where they were the finalist for the Medium Employer of the Year Award at a national level.

As Team Enablen, we are proud that we were able to play our part in supporting selectability’s mission to prevent suicide and improve the overall mental wellbeing of our regional communities.

"Enablen's engineering contributions have allowed us to significantly scale and simplify our training and workforce development initiatives through our fully customised LMS solution. The technology responds to our needs, as opposed to implementing something off-the-shelf that we would be forced to mould our operations into. It is great to have Enablen in our corner."
